I use the most advanced tuning APP called “Cybertuner” as a reference to adjust pitch (installed in my iPhone.) Most piano tuners (by far) use cell phone Apps or dedicated electronic tuning devices these days. Every piano tuner ,I’ve ever heard of (including myself), uses their ears to help guide them and this includes those using electronic devices. “ “Tuning by Ear” just means (simply put) more intense listening without the aid of an electronic tuning device.
Broken strings, broken hammers, broken and sticking keys, re gluing key tops, damper repairs, broken pedals, soundboard and bridge repairs. Loose tuning pin solutions, case part repairs.
Optimally adjusting the Action, keys, key bed, dampers and pedals.
I carry a complete cleaning kit. I can clean the piano thoroughly inside and out. I can remove rust from metal parts. I can clean in hard to get to places.

Replace and repair broken and missing key tops. Whiten ivory key tops sanding and buffing.

I am very experienced and know where to look to find and how to eliminate these.
Spinet model pianos are usually the shortest upright models. The vast majority of piano Technicians HATE working on these. NOT ME. I can repair broken notes and install new elbows in a fraction of the time it takes most.
Most piano technicians despise these so much ,they refuse to work on them. I am very good at tuning , fixing and restoring these (where feasible.)
I use the strongest epoxy in my repairs. Super glues are brittle and can fail as wood expands and contracts. Super glues seem like the typical piano technicians “go to “ for just about everything.
I repair Broken music desks, legs, lids and all other case parts. I am capable of Fine woodworking. I understand the ‘properties’ of different wood species as well as adhesives and finishing materials. Far better than most piano technicians. I have a wood rack stocked with dozens of types of wood. I have dozens of woodworking machines and all woodworking hand tools with full knowledge how to use them.
I took a 3 day course on “Finish “patching” and repair” in 1991. I have been practicing all these years and recently started to do this professionally.
My method for restoring the original finish makes use of modern tools which saves lots of time and money .

I work with John Bauer at “Bauer Finish” www.bauerfinish.com Refinishing with modern lacquers is more costly, but, more durable and long lasting.
